Social Realty Episode 10 — Blogging for Business

Blogging for Business  – Get your Blog On!

Make Blogging Part or Your 2014 Marketing Strategy

Are you blogging? Blogging was at an all time low in 2013 for RTV providers. Did you know that you can receive a free tour credit with every 2 blogs you send to RTV?  Google loves a site that is updated often.  Blogging is a great way to regularly add fresh content to your website site boosting your position in the SERPs as well as building strong back links to your website from the RTV Blog.

Consider how many pages you have on your virtual tour website. Probably not a lot, right? Then think about how often you change or update those pages. Not that often, right?

Each time you write a new blog, it adds another page on your website to be indexed. And becomes a cue to Google that your website is updated regularly and they should be checking in to see what you’ve published.

Each new blog post (and indexed page) is another opportunity for your site to show up in search engines, and gain traffic through organic search.

Ten Benefits of Blogging For a Virtual Tour Company:

1) Blogging is a practical and powerful way to share relevant, useful information with your potential and existing virtual tour customers.

2) A well planned blog with carefully chosen keywords will drive traffic to your landing pages.

3) Share your expertise and establish yourself as an authority.  (e.g. Hospital Photography)

4) Acquire more customers. 60% of businesses who regularly blog, win more business.

5) Grow your list – Your blog should inspire people to opt-in to your virtual tour newsletter or hot sheet (e.g. BlueLaVaMedia HotSheet AutoBlog)

6) Increase your reach. When shared your blog will reach new readers.

7) Increase focus – A blog forces you to consistently define who you are and who you are trying to reach.

8) You’ll become more strategic as you measure analytics and find what appeals to your audience.

9) Learn – You’ll learn a lot about yourself and the world around you.

10) Every great blogger has fun.

Blogging Pays

Hello everyone! Yesterday I was contacted by a potential new virtual tour client. He called me as he was on my web site, www.floridaeyetours.com, looking at the sample virtual tours. He works for a marketing outfit and was at a loss where to start pricing up a job for a local hotel. I asked him how he got to me and he told me Google.

He had done a couple of searches for Virtual Tour providers in Florida and had found a link to my site.

I am always interested to find out the specifics as I look to track my marketing efforts. I pushed a little to see if the link was directly to my site from the Google search, how high did I rank, are my paid for ad-words working adequately, etc…

I was absolutely blown away when he told me that he found a link to my site from the RTV virtual tour provider blog! I am not known for my posting prowess, but, my post and a link to my site ended up catching the eye of a savvy marketing individual on Google! Blogging is now officially included in the soon to be available marketing manual, “You Got That Last New Client How?”  I’m planning on doing this a whole lot more and you should too!

Have a GREAT day!

Why Does My Virtual Tour Company Need SEO?

Why Do I Need SEO for my Local Virtual Tour Business?

The reality is, if you have a virtual tour company website, you need to consider implementing a SEO Strategy. As an owner of a virtual tour business you have to decide what role the Internet will play in your business market and whether you’ll be implementing a strategic campaign. Regardless of your marketing decision, if you have a website or are planning on starting the development of one, SEO needs to plays an important role in the overall strategy of your company website.

Ask yourself:

• Do I want my virtual tour business to have visibility in my local market?

• Do I want my business to target real estate and business markets at a local, county and state Level?

• Do I want to build a strong brand and be recognized in my industry as an important player?

• Do I have a company website or am I planning to start to design one?

• Can I afford the design and development costs?

• Can I afford the additional cost of Search Engine Optimization?

• Do I want to properly prepare my virtual tour company website for visitors?

• Do I have business goals for my website?

• Do I have a concept of what the website will do?

• Do I expect the website to create profits and support e-commerce?

• Will I be using the company website in traditional marketing?

If you can answer yes to some of these questions and plan to invest in ANY marketing or in developing a your local virtual tour brand, then you most certainly need to include Search Engine Optimization as an integral part of that marketing or development during the design stage.

A website is a vital part of any business, worldwide. Visitors get information about your services and products online through your website. To make BIG profits with your virtual tour business it’s first page or BUST! Your site has to be a top ranker in the search engine results so as you create an air of excitement about your company you’re easily found in the SERPS. This means you must apply some SEO basics to your site.

Google is a Fickle Friend

I blogged recently about the impact that blogging has had on the Google rankings for our website.  Over a 60 day period, we watched our daily virtual tour website hits grow from an average of 10 per day to an average of 30 – 50 per day.  The only thing that we did differently during that time was to blog consistently about our business. We do vacation rental photography.

We went from the place where a great month was 350 hits to the point where we were consistently at 1,250 hits for the month.  About that time, life got in the way and I stopped blogging for a few weeks.  We were out of town visiting family, we were packing to move, we were really busy photographing tours…there are plenty of “good excuses”.  But the fact is that Google is a fickle friend!

I don’t pretend to understand the mechanics of Google rankings and analytics but I do know that Google loves blogs or should I say, Google loves fresh blogs.  We blog on our own virtual tour website as well as over 40 other blog sites and once I write a blog, I get an instant jump in visits to our website.  I get some residual readers over time but it’s a trickle compared to what I get when I put in a new blog.  But during the time when I was too busy to blog, I saw a very profound drop in our website hits.  Our hits still maintained some of our momentum but we very quickly dropped from a consistent monthly number above 1,250 down to 1,000.  Having worked so hard to get up to 1,000, I got busy with my blogging to make sure it didn’t drop again.

The problem with being a virtual tour business owner is that you can’t rest on your laurels or past achievements for very long.  My part of the business is sales and marketing and that entails a long to-do list that must be maintained every day or else we will lose momentum in our virtual tour business.  I have now realized that near the top of that to-do list is to keep my blog current and fresh.  The value of Google Analytics is that I can track the results of my efforts.  I can see whether the cold calls I am making and blogs I am writing are driving traffic to the sight.  I’ve always said that you can’t expect what you don’t inspect and Google Analytics allows me to inspect my results.

Since Google’s constant question seems to be “What have you done for me lately?” and I’m going to be pretty busy for the next two weeks, I am writing several blogs over the next few days so I have them ready to post over the next few weeks.  After all, Google doesn’t make exceptions for you when you’re too busy!  Finally…make sure you ALWAYS send RTV your blogs to post to the RTV blog.  The JUICE is AMAZING!

The Importance of Blogging

As I have been blogging for more than a year more or less once a week it started to sink in…blogging is extremely powerful especially if you’re an RTV virtual tour provider and don’t have to pay for the ‘google juice’ from the virtual tour provider blog. To make it have maximum effect you need to continually participate, and the effect increases exponentially over time!  The posts stick, and keep there just waiting to be found!

I have been seriously posting for more than one year, Around 130 posts.  I cannot expect to reach the other bloggers that are in front of me in active rain, but I am trying hard to close the gap!  Every time I post a blog to active rain I also send it in to RTV to post in their blog.  Double your power!

As I get more people commenting on my blog and following me on twitter and facebook I noticed that the effort is worth while.  The digital footprint is growing, my Florida virtual tour company website has climbed in the Google page search to the front page, Google Analytics is showing more search results leading to website each week…now despite not all the searches and click change into a business offer some are already coming in.

I can feel the internet is at last paying back its effort, finally I am getting the occasional costumer, I just have to  to continue writing posts that contain useful information for prospects.

I just need to have enough patience. If you need information on how to increase your Internet marketing experience do not hesitate to contact me at 305 331 8960
